Harvest in Italy in full swing (Italian wine dinner this Weds. )
Despite coming late this year because of spring rains, harvest in Italy is already in full swing. From Friuli in Northeastern Italy to the island of Sicily, winemakers and grape growers are pulling all-night/all-day shifts as they bring the newly picked fruit to their cellars and begin the delicate process of transforming grapes into fine wine.
On Weds., winemaker Angela Maculan — scion of one of Italy’s most famous winemaking families — will be joining us to taste through her family’s award-winning wines and to talk about the 2013 harvest — an unusual one but also a vintage expected to be one of the best in recent memory.
