The new frisée salad at Vino Vino includes “chunk o'” bacon from Flying Pig Provision, egg from Green Gate Farms, and carrots from Johnson’s Backyard Garden — all purveyors located in Austin, Texas. Some folks call this locavorism. Others call it “zero-kilometer” food. We just call it “good food.”

Here’s what Vino Vino sommelier Lexey Davis Johnson had to say about her pairing of the week, white Orvieto from Umbria, Italy and the locally sourced frisée salad by Chef Marco:

“The weight of the wine plays well with creaminess of the egg and it accents the smokiness of he bacon without being over-powered by the mustard’s acidity.”

“It’s a simple farm wine for a simple farm salad.”
